What Makes 5-Star OCOP Products Special? How Can Products Achieve This Certification? This is a Concern for Many Individuals and Businesses.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Luc – Chairman of Sam Sam Company Limited, whose health protection product SAPHRATON achieved 5-star OCOP certification, while OCOP is essentially a local product, Sam Sam chose Ngoc Linh ginseng – a nationally significant medicinal herb – as its raw material, clearly defining the goal of building a deep processing product chain to enhance the commercial value of ginseng.
SAPHRATON has been on the market for over 10 years, trusted by consumers. To meet export standards, Sam Sam continuously invests in upgrading processes. The ginseng cultivation area meets GACP-WHO standards, the production facility follows GMP and FDA standards, ensuring stable and consistent quality.
Currently, SAPHRATON is distributed nationwide, achieving 5-star OCOP certification – confirming export-standard quality. However, Ngoc Linh ginseng being on the CITES endangered species list poses obstacles in completing export documentation. Meanwhile, at Sam Sam’s raw material area, Ngoc Linh ginseng has been propagated and cultivated on nearly 10 hectares.
“The CITES barrier prevents Ngoc Linh ginseng products from being exported. After multiple proposals, Vietnamese authorities have requested CITES to reconsider the management group for this medicinal species. We are awaiting consensus to expand the international market for SAPHRATON and related products” – Mr. Nguyen Duc Luc, Chairman of Sam Sam Company Limited.
